I can not remember a time when horses were not an important part of my life. Since my very first pony ride at five years old, I have been involved with horses at every opportunity. I give thanks to my grandfather, who along with that pony ride, gave me my first point and shoot camera. Thus my passion for photography was born. I have ridden horses all my life, and have experiences from barrel racing and western pleasure to dressage, eventing and hunter/jumper. For the last 15 years I have focused my competitive efforts in the hunter/jumpers.
I have spent the majority of my life looking at horses through a camera lens. It is my goal to capture the true beauty and power of these magnificent animals. Moving from New Orleans to Lexington KY, “The Horse Capital of the World,” has furthered my passion for equine photography. I am fortunate to have some of the most prestigious horse farms in the country, as well as the Kentucky Horse Park, which serves as home to the Rolex Three-Day Event, and dozens of top hunter/jumper, dressage and breed shows, nearby. All have been invaluable to my experience. My involvement and familiarity with horses and their behavior has helped me bring a superior quality to each photograph I take. Photographing horses requires a unique talent to compose movement and background in order to capture the right moment. My now 20 year old Thoroughbred and younger Trakehner serve as a constant inspiration to me to strive to capture the true essence of a horse. As any owner can attest, a horse may allow only one fleeting opportunity to get “the right shot.” I specialize in action photography at horse shows and race tracks, as well as equine and pet candids. I also maintain a gallery of stock floral and nature images. My work has appeared on the cover & in articles of USHJA In Stride magazine and in The Chronicle of the Horse, The Special and Keeneland Magazine, and promotion of Millstream Farm. My photographs have featured in advertisements for Equine Intact, Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, the Performance Horse Registry, Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital and Virginia Intermont College.
